I have been having a pretty nice week and just wanted to share it with you. In addition to a quick little Crafty Witch Tip. (Yes...I said quick!)I have decided to make a bit of a change here on Crafty's Cup. I realize that I tend to write ALOT! I cannot help it, I am just a wordy kinda Gal. But I also realize that we live in busy times, and not everyone has the time to sit and read an entire chapter of my writing each time they stop by my blog. Now thankfully no one has said anything to me...because that might have hurt my sensitive bloggy feelings; but I also would hate for people to be missing out on some great content just because they can't bear to finish reading whatever it is that I have written!
So, in the interest of saving you from the neverending blog post...I have decided to try to cut them down a bit! If and when I have a longer type article to share; I will try to stretch it out over a few days. Let's see how everyone likes that, and if not...let me know and I will gladly go back to writing my epic saga blog posts! He he.
Okay! My week/day today. Well, to start with I have been making and enjoying some new tea blends; and to take advantage of this beautiful weather, I have been trying my hand at brewing sun tea. They have all been delicious, and I am going to keep coming up with new concoctions. So far this week I have made a:
Blueberry/Pommegranite White Tea
Chammomile/Mint Blend
Green Tea
Red Rasberry Leaf/Hibiscus Tea
As for my day today...after burning the candle at both ends last night, and only closing my eyes for a measly hour before getting the Kiddos off to school; I took my neighbor The Lovely Miss M out to run her weekly errands. (As I have a vehicle and she does not.) We started out at the local Swap Meet where she sells her handmade jewelry on the weekends. You will not believe all of the goodies that I scored for $33!
$1 > Royal Purple Velour Cape w/Hood (for Rituals & going to my Goddess Temple)
$4 > 9 (!) Books for me
$2 > 5 Workbooks for Home Schooling the Kids this Summer
$3 > 3 Potted Herb Plants- Rosemary, Sage & Cilantro
$2 > 1 Mancala Set w/ 34 Gemstones for the Children to play w/and add to their

$3 > 6 (!) Bags of Raw Wool for Needle Felting ( A new Craft Toy for me to try)

Am I a Deal Maven or what!?!
And speaking of frugality...I have a super quick Crafty Witch Tip to share with you guys. I am sure that everyone has bought, at one time or another, those Glade candles that come in the glass cups, or another type of cup/jar candle, right? Well, many times when the candle is done burning, people have no clue what to do with the leftover jar, and they just toss it.
I use mine all over the house for various things. They make great little vases for short blossoms, cotton ball/ Q-tip holders in the bathroom and condiment cups on the dinner table. But...one of my favorite uses for them is on my Altar. When I prepare my Altar for a working, I use them (cleansed of course, and only for this purpose) for holding each of my spell ingredients. I use them to hold my individual herbs, gemstones, oils and other spell additions. They make a handy container, and are much prettier to look at than the original containers or loose herbs. I also use them as a container for spells/potions/mixtures that I need to leave out on my Altar for a period of time.
All you need to do is run the candle cup with the leftover wax under a hot faucet, and then gently dig out the softened wax with a butter knife. Or, you can also submerge them in boiling water, after it is taken off of the heat source.
Have a great evening...and a super Beltaine Weekend! After all...our Holidays are never celebrated for just one day! They always start the Eve of {tonight} and last for 3 days. Sometimes one week! Yup...we Pagans are the original party animals! He, he, he! Thank Goodness too; as I have a funeral to attend tomorrow morning. Afterwards I plan to honor my Nana by planting a new section of my Beltaine Garden that I started 3 years ago. {She taught me how to garden}. Then, I will have plenty of time to recoup and get myself in the celebratory frame of mind! The kids and I will be making our usual May Baskets to leave on our neighbors' doors; and then dancing and decorating our May Pole. (A smaller version for wee ones, as their little legs tend to tire easily!) Then we make our Green Man Masks, throw herbs on our 'Bon Fire', which is really our BBQ that I load wood onto after our BBQ Beltaine Feast; and bless our house with burning Sage bundles. I think that our Celtic Ancestors would be proud!
Bye All! Happy Beltaine & Have Fun!
Well Guys...I guess that wasn't all that short...but I am trying! You still love me anyways... Right?!? :)
