Pumkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins...Today It's All About Pumpkins!!!

I woke up with Pumpkin on the brain today! So after the kids headed of to school, I brewed up a cuppa Pumpkin Spice Tea .

I have no where to go to anyways- I'm still in the cast... so it's just a lovely morning with me and the Kittys. I have some art stuff to work on, as I'm trying to get my ETSY Shop up and running (real soon now!).
*
It is kinda gloomy this morning, so I lit a couple of tea lights & sprinkled a little of the Pumpkin Spice Tea into the hot wax. That's one of my favorite Crafty Witch Broke Girl Style Autumn Scented Candle Tricks- plain Pumpkin Pie Spice works as well- that's what I normlly use. (I haven't exactly been out shopping for the past 8 weeks cause of the leg. So no new Autumn goodies for me this year. The upside is that it's saving me TONS of money during this Season Of Buying!)

Alrighty...I have alot to share today. Vintage Postcard Images for your use; a quaint Hallows Eve custom; a tasty Pumpkin Spread, for those upcoming Fall Parties, and some quick & easy Pumpkin Treat Bags for the Kiddos.

Whew! So let's get started.

*Vintage Halloween Images 4 U & A Quiant Old Halloween Tradition*
These Vintage Halloween Post Card Images (for your use) depict a quaint old Victorian, Halloween Custom. There are many versions of the story.
*
One of the most common is that at the stroke of midnight, a young maiden, in a white nighgown, with her long hair flowing, would walk backwards down the stairs holding a candle and a hand mirror (preferebly silver, for silver's connection with the Moon.) At the bottom of the stairs she would peer into the mirror, and was supposed to see the face of her future true love.
*
I read about this custom when I was a young girl. I was fascinated by history & traditions & holidays from a super young age. This one in particular grabbed my attention- probably because it was easier to do than roasting marked chestnuts in the fire!
*
I did this little ritual many Halloween nights between the ages of 8 untill probably about 16! And no...I never once saw any reflection besides my own! (Although I did dream about my 'to be' Husband for about 2 months before I met him in real life. But that's another story for another day!)

*Yummy Spiced Pumpkin Spread*

Ingredients
4 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 15-ounce can pumpkin
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 large pumpkin
Ground nutmeg
Assorted crackers, also great on bagels
Directions
1. In a very large mixing bowl beat the cream cheese, pumpkin, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla with an electric mixer until smooth. Transfer to a bowl or storage container. Cover and chill up to 2 days.
2. Transfer to a serving container and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve with crackers. Makes 6-1/2 cups (about 25 servings).

*Quick & Easy Pumpkin Treat Bags*
These PumpkinTreat Bags are a cinch to make. All you need, to whip these babies up, is:
Orange Paper Bags
Green Floral Tape
Floral Wires
Candy Filling
First wrap the wires in the green floral tape, and then curl around a pencil. Stuff the orange bags with candy or other teats, and then twist the bag closed and wrap twice around the stem with the tape. Then, while holding the wire to the stem, attatch it with the tape, and finish off the stem.
Voila, you're done!
